Training Health Workers in Uganda

My child had fever and so I came to the health facility,” says Chantale Kawambe whose little girl was a patient at Butiaba Health Centre in Buliisa. “I was told that they wanted to find out if my child had malaria and so they needed to do a test. I think this is a good thing as first we need to find out the problem so we can get the right treatment.”
Chantale’s daughter tested negative for malaria and was given the right medication.

Malaria Consortium is training local health facility staff in central Uganda, to strengthen the capacity of village health teams to diagnose and treat the three main childhood diseases - malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea - at community level in order to save lives and support the management of fevers at home.
